Our Story

Weaving Partnerships was born from a 20-year commitment to rural Oaxaca—a commitment that began not with a blueprint, but with trust built through relationships and lived experience.

The Founder's Journey

For two decades, our founder Richard Hanson lived and worked alongside indigenous communities in rural Oaxaca, Mexico. What began as grassroots community organizing evolved into a sophisticated model of integrated development—one that respects local knowledge while bringing in technical expertise from world-class institutions.

From Vision to Systems

Over time, we recognized that sustainable community development requires more than good intentions. It requires integrated systems that work together:

Energy infrastructure that powers not just lights, but economic opportunity

Regenerative agriculture that rebuilds soil health and creates carbon revenue

Social enterprise that gives communities market access and economic agency

The Managed Field Laboratory

Today, Weaving Partnerships operates as a Managed Field Laboratory—a bridge between Tier 1 research institutions and on-the-ground implementation. We handle the complexity of community relationships, project logistics, and cultural translation so that university teams can focus on what they do best: rigorous research and innovative solutions.
